Currants for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

Viewed 157 times

Carrefour, partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, has selected Romain CRIGNON (Agriculture,2016,Beauvais), a farmer in Daméraucourt (60), to supply currants to the athletes in the Olympic village. After taking over the family farm in 2021, Romain diversified his production by planting redcurrants in 2019, today reaching a production of 8-9 tons per year. Employing around twenty seasonal workers for the summer harvest, he values the competitive spirit among his young workers.

His redcurrants, destined for both supermarkets and Olympic athletes, meet strict aesthetic criteria. Although his selection for the Olympics does not increase his income, it does highlight the quality of his work and of French agriculture. Proud to contribute to the Games, the Alumni sees this opportunity as recognition and a means of promoting local production in the face of international competition.
