On July 2, Marie-Amélie DECHERF (née BEAU) (Agriculture, 2011, Beauvais), had the honor of carrying the Olympic flame to Douai (59). This leg of the Olympic torch relay is part of the preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Marie-Amélie was chosen because she embodies at least one of the three energies of the torch relay: sport, territories, and the collective. This honor reflects her commitment and values, such as team spirit, benevolence and surpassing oneself, which she embodies in both her professional and personal life.

The event was marked by strong local involvement. The town of Douai and the Cercle d'Escrime de Douai helped create a memorable atmosphere, with a spectacular guard of honor to welcome the flame. What's more, the Gayant family, traditionally present only on the first Sunday after July 5, made an exceptional appearance to celebrate the event.
