The recent REUT decree concerning the reuse of non-conventional water in the food industry has been promulgated, meeting the expectations of the sector.
A major step forward for Maëlle FISSELIER (Environment, 2020, Rennes), who has been working on this decree for years. Thanks to its wastewater treatment plant, Cooperl purifies 60% of its annual water consumption, saving 350,000 cubic meters of drinking water per year.
The next decree will enable the REUSE project to be set up to extend this reuse to new uses, such as the pre-washing of white offal, resulting in water savings comparable to those of 32 Olympic swimming pools per year.
