Romain TORQUET (Agriculture, 2008, Rouen), agricultural advisor in Normandy, shares his experience of bale grazing, a technique developed by grass breeders in the west of France, which is now gaining ground in Normandy.

The principle is simple: place bales of hay or silage directly in the fields. The result? The animals can stay outside longer, even in winter, and the meadows benefit from a natural supply of organic matter.

According to Romain, this method makes better use of autumn and winter grass, while regenerating the meadows without too much extra work. A practical idea that meets the needs of today's livestock farmers.
